This chili is packed with veggies, all the health benefits of bone broth, and naturally sweetened with dates. Here’s what you’ll need:

- Tomato Sauce
- Fire Roasted Tomatoes

- Sweet Potatoes - Any type of sweet potatoes are great, but I am always partial to Japanese sweet potatoes!
- Bell Peppers - I like to use a mix of both red and green peppers!
- Carrots
- Onion
- Beef bone broth - There are so many added health benefits to using bone broth, but feel free to use regular beef broth as well!
- Apple Cider Vinegar - Adding an acid to a dish always brings out such delicious flavor!
- Coconut Aminos
- Chili Powder
- Garlic Powder
- Cumin
- Allspice - You won't believe the amazing flavor that allspice adds to this dish!
- Cayenne Pepper
Using dates to sweeten the chili
The “sweet” in this chili comes, not only from the sweet potatoes, but from dates! I have found that the easiest and quickest way to incorporate them is to allow them to simmer in a small saucepan with the tomato sauce until they have softened. You’ll then transfer the sauce and dates to a blender, or use an immersion blender to puree.
How to make this recipe
- Brown the ground beef with salt and pepper in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the tomato sauce and pitted dates to a saucepan over medium heat.
- Let simmer until dates soften – about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the dates and tomato sauce to a blender or use an immersion blender to puree.
- Add the ground beef, tomato sauce and dates mixture, and all other ingredients to a slow cooker and cook on high for 4-6 hours.
- Top with your favorite toppings.
- Enjoy!
